Hi, I'm feeling particularly nosy today \o/ Hence:

In-college flisters, what are you majoring in? What are your plans for after you're done with college, do you have any?

High school flisters, what are your plans for college?

Man. I'm a little jealous, I gotta admit. It's still a year to go for me and I'm really, really looking forward to getting the hell out of here. I want to go to college again, though, just ANYWHERE THAT IS NOT LAW SCHOOL. :///

I too am at artskool, specialising in Illustration. Preferably I want to end up freelancing and doing work for bands - merch, flyers, album covers - but I'll take what i can get, though I'm not interested in advertising or editorial work.

Or I may take up an apprentice ship as a tattoo artist.

Or as a jeweller.

Or go down a more academic route and teach Visual Culture.

...essentially, I have no idea. /o\ For now I'm just selling my artwork, networking and trying to get some gallery interest.

Man, I admire people who can just stake everything on something so unsteady as art appears to be. I mean, you can either make it or not, it's a 50-50 chance. You gotta have the balls to do that. I've always been to chicken shit to do something like that. Not that I would get into an art school anyway, but still. I had some serious doubts while applying for English - so impractical! The job market is flooded with English majors! Etc, etc. And this is how I ended up in law school, hating 99% of my classes and 99% of my fellow students. Gah.

yeah, in the US a lot of it varies wildly state to state. Some places its as long as you don't know the difference between right and wrong, some places you just have to not understand what you were doing at the time, substantial capacity, all sorts of things.

I'm doing a double major in dance and international studies. Ideally I would love to get a place in a professional ballet company, but the chances of that are astronomically slim. Sooo I'm thinking I might try and work for somewhere like Amnesty International or another human rights organization. I do not want to go to grad school EVER, so I'm sure I'll be scrambling trying to line up work during my last year of school x_x

Dance, oh man. What do your classes look like? Tell me everything!

International studies mean that you have to deal with law, at least a little bit. How do you like it? *insert evil laughter here*

Haha, I've actually yet to take any classes related to international law, although I'm hoping to take one this coming year.

Dance! The program I'm in is pretty structured. We have to take a minimum of one year each for ballet, modern, and jazz, and a second year of ballet or modern (almost everyone takes one or all of these all four years, though). On top of that we have to take a minimum of six 'elective' dance courses - stuff like Spanish dance, tap, pointework, etc. Minimum of two performances (which you have to audition for). I think that's pretty much it for the practical stuff. As far as theory goes there's quite a few we have to take: music for dancers, injury prevention, choreography, kinesiology, dance history, a dance critique class, and a few others I'm sure I'm forgetting. You can also choose to do a more focused performing or choreography track. It's a really great program, and there's definitely some amazingly talented people. It can definitely be a pain some days dragging myself to a morning ballet class, but I can't imagine going all through college just sitting in lecture halls all day!

This is why I skip the majority of my lectures \o/ All of them since second semester, to be precise, except for Forensic Science, Forensic Psychology/Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine. They have little to absolutely nothing to do with law which makes them pretty damn awesome by default.

I am so jealous, you have no idea :| How long have you been dancing, anyway? You must've been a kid when you first started, am I right? I was taking some dance classes when I was between the age of 7 and 13 but it wasn't anything solid, just scattered all over the place from classical to dancehall, and it never lasted long anyway. I've always been easily bored. *g*

Haha, hear hear for lecture skipping. I haven't been to my statistics lecture all quarter XD

I took the typical fairy-princess ballet class when I was three or four, I think, but I apparently begged my mom to quit after I had terrible stage fright during my first performance. I didn't start taking real classes until I was 14, when out of the blue a dance supply catalogue came to my house and I decided I really, really wanted to take ballet lessons! I went to a local studio for a few years; the year before I started university I switched to a really serious classical ballet studio about an hour commute from where I lived, which was not funtimes. So I'm definitely still playing catch-up in some respects to the people who've been dancing since they were babies!

woo! I'm a philosophy/english major. I'm trying to bridge the two so that I don't have to do as much work as a double major, but still get the perks of both, since I really can't decide which one I like more. And I am thinking I'd like to bum around for a year or so after college (i'm finishing soph year) and maybe have a job and write poetry and do artsy things. Then I'd like to join the Peace Corps and spend two more years avoiding making any decisions. :)
